Statement From the Artist

My work tends to deal with personal insights, reflections, perceptions and introspections. The pieces are a reflection of my perception, whether it be waking or sleeping – a shared thought, a psychological introspection. I have always thought of painting in terms of the process, as a series of steps on the road for a cohesive truth – a greater understanding.

My current work explores the process of painting. Through the loose application of paint 
I’ve allowed the work to develop and take it’s own direction, later pulling the pieces back in ever so slightly, simply by sketching on top of the canvas using a paint stick or oil pencil. Each mistake is incorporated instead of discarded – allowing the work to take on an imperfect and honest persona.
